Job Description
CLIMATE SMART IRRIGATED AGRICULTURE PROJECT (CSIAP) MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE Recruitment of Project Staff
The Climate Smart Irrigated Agriculture Project (CSIAP)implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture is World Bank for a period of 5 years (2019 to 2024). The objective of the Project is to improve the agriculture productivity via improving climate resilience of agriculture in Climatically vulnerable hotspot areas identified in six provinces namely North Western Province (Kurunegala, Puttalam), North Central Province (Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa), Eastern Province (Trincomalee, Ampara, & Batticaloa), Northern Province (Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu), Southern Province (Hambantota) and Uva Province (Monaragala). The revised estimated cost of the project is USD 125 Mn.
Applications are invited from citizens of Sri Lanka for following posts in project on contract basis. The applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience given under each category.
a) A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Sociology, Social work & Gender Studies or any other relevant field which is recognized by the University of Grants commission
or
A qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission as an equivalent qualification to the degree in the relevant field
or
An associate membership/ A similar professional qualification obtained from a recognized professional institution in the relevant field
or
Having obtained a certificate of proficiency not below than the National Vocational Qualification Level 7 issued by a Technical Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission for a post related to technical field and At least 3 years’ experience in the required area of specialization.
b) Having obtained a certificate of proficiency not below than the National Vocational Qualification Level 6 issued by a Technical Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission for a post related to technical field and At least 8 years’ experience in the required area of specialization.
c) Having obtained a certificate of proficiency not below than the National Vocational Qualification Level 5 issued by a Technical Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission for a post related to technical field and At least 13 years’ experience in the required area of specialization.
Brief job Description:
To assist the Provincial Deputy Project Director and Social and Environmental Safeguard Specialist for devising strategies for addressing gender related concerns in irrigation and agricultural development in the project area and work closely with other specialists, officers and stakeholders/ partner organizations to make sure that the gender aspects of the project are integrated in the irrigation development and agricultural plan etc.
Additional Requirements for all above posts
1. Able to withstand long working hours
2. Working experience in foreign funded projects is preferable. 3. Computer literacy 4. Proficiency in English & Tamil languages
General Conditions :
a. Age limit : Candidates above 64 years of age on the closing date of application are not eligible to apply.
b. Conditions of Employment. Officers belonging to the Government services will be recruited on secondment basis and persons outside the Government Service will be recruited on contract basis. All appointments will be initially for a period of one year and extension of service will be based on successful performance. Employees are required to travel to project sites depending on the need.
c. Salary: Salary for each position will be based on the Management Services Circular No. 01/2019 dated 05.03.2019
d. Interview: Shortlisted applicants based on their qualifications and experience will be called for the interview.
