POST OF BUSINESS MANAGER - CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR WATER & SANITATION (cewas) ON CONTRACT BASIS

National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWS&DB) is the leading government agency responsible for provision of Water Supply and Sewerage facilities to the people of Sri Lanka. The Board presently provides piped water to about 08 million people through more than 2 million service connections. It is a prestigious Organization having a large number of Professionals. Activities of the Board are being expanded to achieve the government’s objective of piped water coverage up to 79% and the safe water coverage up to 100% in Sri Lanka by the year 2024.

Cewas is a strategic business unit attached to the NWSDB consisting three main facilities; state of the art training facility at Ratmalana, Research and Development facility at the Joint Research & Demonstration Center (JRDC) at Peradeniya and the Laboratory Service Unit at Ratmalana. NWSDB plans to make cewas an autonomous unit which will undertake business opportunities related to training, research, and water and sewer quality testing and interpretation. The Centre aims to fi nd the business opportunities from national as well as international public and private entities of varying caliber. Few examples are Universities and other research organisations, Manufacturing industries relevant to water and sanitation sector, Tertiary education institutes, Service organisations etc.

Major functions expected by the Business Manager (not limited)

• Developing financially and commercially viable business plans

• Identifying potential clients and new business opportunities

• Conducting  market  research  and prepare marketing plan  and  implementation •Maintain close relationship with the National and International entities as mentioned above

•  Arrange business meetings

• Compile monthly and annual reports of cewas and report to the senior management Applications are hereby invited from Citizens of Sri Lanka, for vacancies existing in the above-mentioned post attached to the Center of Excellence Water & Sanitation. The applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience.

Qualifications & Experience

 Possess a Science/Business Administration or an equivalent Degree from a recognized University approved by the University Grants Commission.

AND

Membership of CIM / SLIM

AND

Master qualification in relevant field from a recognized University approved by University Grants Commission

 WITH

Proven 10 years’ post qualifying experience in handling strategic Business Managements in the Government/ or a recognized institution.

Candidates shall be fluent in common software applications, other IT applications and be able to handle Business in English medium

 Age : Candidate should be less than 45 years of age.

 Salary Scale : Rs. 134,013 per month + Cost of living Allowance

 Criterion of Selection : Interview
