POST OF A RESEARCH ASSISTANT

AHEAD/RIC GRANTS – No:16,

FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES, SABARAGAMUWA UNIVERSITY OF SRI LANKA

The AHEAD operation of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka invites applications from prospective candidates for the post of Research Assistant (Full Time).

 1. Background

The project “Development of novel beverages types with Ceylon cinnamon, Cinnamon zeylanicum) funded under AHEAD (Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development)- RIC (Research Innovation and Commercialization) grants, attached to Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. Project aims to develop Ceylon cinnamon based commercial beverages which complete utilization of valuable properties of the Ceylon cinnamon bush. Ceylon cinnamon know to the world as the best quality true cinnamon. All the invented beverages products will be commercialized with the help of renown commercialization partners while sharing the benefits to the whole society.  

2. General Conditions

Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka, Age should be below 45 years on the date of application Excellent in team work and communication 

3. Duties and responsibilities

The RA will undertake the following activities and closely work with the project team and be supervised by the project coordinator of the project.

 -To complete the lab experiments within the given period

-Maintain the quality standards of the product development environment

4. Required qualifications and Experiences

1.The employee should have to hold a MSc. degree under an approved educational institute/university by the University of Grants Commission (UGC) in one of the relevant subjects mentioned below.

 -Food Sciences/ Food Chemistry/ Food Processing Technology/ Food Research and Development/ Food Engineering or a related subject above 

 -The candidate should have a good publication record (SCI or SCIE journal publications). 

And 

 2.The candidate should hold a BSc. degree in related with Food Chemistry/Food Sciences/ Agricultural Sciences or above-mentioned fields in (1).

5. Method of Recruitment 

This is a full-time position. The Contract Appointment shall be for a period of 5 months.

6. Salary and other Benefits

 As compensation for the services provided, the employee shall be paid a wage of LKR. 80,000 [per month] and all payments shall be subject to mandatory employment deductions (UPF and ETF).
