Job Description

UNIVERSITY OF COLOMBO SRI LANKA VACANCIES 

The University of Colombo will entertain applications from suitably qualified persons for the following Contract Posts up to 15th October 2021.

01. TECHNICAL OFFICER (ON CONTRACT) 02 POSTS

 University of Colombo is in the process of establishing “Centre for Cancer Diagnosis and Research (CeDARC)”. The “Centre for Cancer Diagnosis and Research” is a joint project in collaboration with Department of Pathology, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Human Genetic Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Chemistry and Zoology of the Faculty of Science of the University of Colombo. The well experience Technical officers are required to assist the histopathology laboratory work of this project.

Qualification / Experience: 

(I) National Diploma in Technology or equivalent qualification

 OR 

(II) Higher National Diploma in Engineering.

 OR 

(III) Higher National Diploma in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences.

 OR

(IV) Diploma in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences at least two (02) years’ full-time duration obtained from a recognized institute with one (01) year experience in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Salary : Rs. 50,000/- per month including Rs.7,800/- as cost of living allowance 

Age : Not more than 45 years Selection : By practical Test and Interview.

General Conditions for on contract basis posts:

• The appointment will be on contract basis initially for a period of one (01) year and the period of contract will be renewable subject to annual performance of the selected person during the period of contract and the requirement of the University.
• The selected candidate will be a member of the Employees Provident Fund. He/ She will contribute 8% of his/her monthly salary to the Employees Provident Fund and at the same time the employer will make a total contribution of 12% of his/her salary to the Employees Provident Fund. Three percent (3%) of the salary will be contributed by the University to the Employees’ Trust Fund in terms of the provisions of the Employees’ Trust Fund Act, No. 46 of 1980.
• The other conditions of appointment will be in accordance with the provisions of the University Act No. 16 of 1978, Universities and its amendments.
